Alfred
The wolves are howling in the heath;
The sword weeps in the sheath;
A wolf's among us in the house,
Rise lords, leave off carouse.
Your oaths are sworn; the bugle's blown
Thrice from the princely throne.
All hell breaks loose; and all is woe;
But now to battle, go!
Fierce armours clang; and metals jar;
The cries of war sound near and far;
The heroes' hatchets hack and hew,
Harsh rhyme, horrid view.
The atheling charges at full speed,
Mounted on his maskèd steed;
His spear, well-tempered Saxon steel,
Deals wounds that never heal.
Three galleys bring disaster home,
Shag-haired warriors wont to roam;
With dauntless will the pale-eyed Danes,
Smile on the English plains.
The flame bites high; the blade drinks deep;
Corses on horses heap;
The earth receives in her embrace
The sons of Wodan's race.
The beggared king leans by the stove;
His feverish fancies rove;
His brain grows thick with weariness,
And dreams of victories.
Tomorrow early in the morn,
Three times he'll blow the horn;
Five hundred gather at the door,
To beat ten thousand more.
So on the foughten ground arise
A storm and soulless cries;
'Midst hollowed rocks, and whirling sands,
His kingly castle stands.
The wolves are howling in the heath;
The sword weeps in the sheath;
A wolf's among us in the house,
Rise lords, leave off carouse.

[原创]When You Let Your Hair Down
nighthymns 发表于 2009-08-17 21:27:33
终于又写了首歌,额滴大爷啊差点累死,录音没办法还是粗糙,现在这水平就只能这样了,加了点简单的solo~
Demo with solo:

Clean demo without solo

When You Let Your Hair Down
When you let your hair down,
Let the billows rise, let the tempest roll,
When the ship turns round,
The sea winds blow, from pole to pole.
When you let your hair down,
It's time to run, it's time to fly;
The time goes wrong
The ghost will haunt, and mothers cry
When you let your hair down, when you let it flow
We'll fall from heaven, to the ocean floor
To the other side, to the other shore
When you let it go,
To the West Indies, to the Bermudas,
To us
When you let your hair down,
I'll lay me down, right on the ground
So we will sleep, oh sleep
Sleep till tomorrow, sleep safe and sound.
When you let your hair down, when you let it flow,
We'll find an island, we'll find a door,
We'll build a house, on the other shore;
So let it go,
For the West Indies, for the Bermudas,
For us
When you let your hair down,
It is just all, and all I know,
'Cause when you do, 'cause when you did,
It touched me so.

估计是克莱普顿最简单的一首,San Francisco Bay Blues~临时买了个口琴吹。。。效果极其喜庆,不过本来就是一个欢乐的歌

San Francisco Bay Blues
I got the blues from my baby livin by the San Francisco Bay
The ocean liner not so far away
Didn't mean to treat her so bad she was the best girl I ever have had
Said goodbye, I can take a cry, wanna lay down and die
I ain't got a nickel and I ain't got a lousy dime
She won't come back, think I'm gonna lose my mind
Ever get back to stay it's gonna be another brand new day
Walkin with my baby down by the San Francisco Bay
Sittin down looking from my back door....wondering which way to go
Woman I'm so crazy bout....she don't love me no more
Think I'll catch me a freight train....cause I'm feeling blue
Ride all the way to the end of the line....thinkin only of you
Meanwhile living in the city....just about to go insane
Though I heard my baby call....the way she used to call my name
And if I ever get back to stay....its gonna be another brand new day
Walkin with my baby down by the San Francisco Bay Hey Hey
Walkin with my baby down by the San Franci sco Bay
Walkin with my baby down by the San Francisco Bay

Think (Let Tomorrow Bee)
by Lou Barlow
Could I hold on, or should I hold on to you
Ask, I'll tell the truth; there's nothing I should hide
And if I move too slow, if you're bored I need to know
I'm weak to hide inside, to force what I don't feel
If all we have is a question, there's no hope to find a future
But something in me cries for you, it feels too real this time
I think I love you, though I don't know what love means
The girl of my dreams, or a friend that one day leaves
Could I trust this, when I lied to myself before
When I do it all again, to taste what I imagined we could be.
Look what I've become, this pressure that we feel
In a world of possibilities, this may not prove real
But could we give enough, back against the wall
Too close to breathe, but too far to fall.
All I ever wanted, was to feel you closer to me,
And it's sad to feel this resistance
What once before has felt so free
Let tomorrow be, I can't be so impatient
Pushin' every answer, when there isn't any question
Let me feel good now, and though this may have to end
I think I'm always with you, and honestly your friend
I think I love you.

A Night Like This in Many Nights
nighthymns 发表于 2009-06-09 22:14:53
A Night Like This in Many Nights
A night like this in many nights,
Not many there will be;
The rolling clouds, and distant sights,
The saffron canopy.
Waves beat like drums, nostalgic beat,
Far calling of the tides;
And wind, like time, like something sweet
Above the timber glides.
On such a night when I loved you,
Did you love me;
So clear and innocent like us, too,
Only the infant sea.
You'll find your knight, you'll find your king,
When he will find his queen;
But such a night as now you bring,
Not many there have been.

Romance Is Dead (Catherine Said)
nighthymns 发表于 2009-03-25 20:27:38
Romance Is Dead
When April showers golden light,
And jacinths bloom to red and white,
And burn the heaven's burning eye,
Then what a time to live and die--
The grass is growing on the graves,
And sirens sing on sapphire waves,
There's peace beneath the Aegean Sea,
And warmth in those who ceased to be.
And the Greeks are dead.
There seated on her pearly throne,
The queen of Egypt's left alone.
Give her the cup of mandrake juice,
Strew on her breast the flower-de-luce.
Then lay her by great Antony,
In perfume, spice and filigree.
Gift to the children of the Nile,
Her serpents and her crocodile.
And the Romans are dead.
Yet spring comes still, the sun smiles still,
And smiled upon yon window sill.
There was a rose of Valentine,
Withering by little Catherine,
Who trembled at the cruel, sweet light,
That when she's sad, should shine so bright.
And Catherine shook her head in bed:
Romance is dead, Romance is dead,
Quite dead, she said.
When April showers golden light,
And jacinths bloom to red and white,
And burn the heaven's burning eye,
Then what a time to live and die--
The grass is growing on the graves,
And sirens sing on sapphire waves,

Two Stories from the Cantonese, as heard from the old folks
nighthymns 发表于 2009-02-17 19:42:50
The Tale of the Frog
When I was in the City of Shaoguan in northern Guangdong I heard this amazing but sad tale of the frog. Many years ago, the wife of one of my relatives once bought from the market several little frogs, tied together on a metal string. She was about to cook them for the children to eat, when one of the frogs struggled off the bondage, and leapt away without being noticed. But then her children argued that frogs are beneficial to human by feeding on pests, and declined to feed on frogs. As a result, the wife had to release the rest of the captives.
After no one had remembered that escapee for several months, one day the wife spied in the kitchen to her great amazement, an enormously huge frog: this was the escapee. It had fattened on the rich supply of mosquitos, flies and cockroaches of the old house. And the moisture in the kitchen pleased it well. Thus its belly grew to as large as a man's palm. The family nevertheless left it alone; and after more months, it had grown so accustomed to human presence that it made no attempt to escape when they were preparing meals in the kitchen.
The favorite seat of the frog is the hole of the sewer, down which there is a fine filtering metal web that kept it from falling through. It was sitting there one day, when the grandma of the children came to visit. She was an excellent cook who made delicious soup and dainty traditional food. She had just finished making the children's favorite snack, which was seasoned rice and peanuts wrapped in lotus leaves and boiled in water. Then she poored the used water into the sewer, quite unaware of the animal inside. Then to her great horror, the giant frog sprang out in desperation, scalded red all over, and leapt in extreme agony on the floor. She let out a scream, and the family rushed in and lamented. But to their great pity, the torment is too heavy for it to recover from. And soon its violent movements were reduced to momentary, feeble twitches, and finally death veiled its eyes.
Now though the cantonese eat almost everything, the family kept from eating the frog which they bought to eat. And the father went out with the children, and burried the animal under a tree outside the house.
The Tale of the dog
The same folk also told me about why he never ate dog meat. When he was a boy, someone gave the family a little dog for gift. It wasn't one of excellent breed, as those we see in the cities, but one among the most common or rather vulgar order. But the boy was extra happy with the gift, and took it into his care, for he liked animals. He fed it with food from his own bowls; and for more than a year, the dog has grown significantly larger, and healthily as well. It had yellow fur, and became a faithful follower of the boy.
Now the boy was a very naughty one, and had fantasical ideas. Their neighbor kept another black dog, which was about the same age and size as his; and both were male. One day the boy felt a burning desire to enjoy a dog fight. He went and fetched the neighbor's dog to his own, and holding each warrior by the neck, as it were in a boxing match, made the two touch their noses instead of gloves. The combatants made muffled and sullen growls as this was going on. And then as soon as he released them, a furious fight broke out between them. Long it lasted and terrible was the sight. Nevertheless, the yellow one stood it out, and proved the stronger dog. After that his master was very proud and pleased, both with the dog and victory.
However, it came to pass one day that the mother announced she would invite guests to their house, to make a feast of the dog; for it was a time of dearth and besides, dog meat was a rare delicacy. He protested violently against the plan, and claimed that the dog was raised by him. Thus the dog luckily escaped slaughter, and remained disciple of his lord; and so it went for more days.
One day, when he came home from school in the evening, the dog didn't show up to welcome. He looked in and out of the house, and found no dog of his but relatives and friends invited by his mother. And the dog was made a main course of the evening. It had already been hanged and butchered in the yard during his absence. At the moment it was bubbling in fine pieces in the same cauldron where his meals came from every day.
The boy was seized by pain and despair when he heard of his loss. He made it an oath that he shall never touch dog meat in his life. And after that, he never kept a second dog.
